I am currently Head of Design at JobAdder, working out of the HQ in Sydney, Australia, designing useful tools for recruiters.
With 10+ years experience designing across responsive web, iOS, Android & MacOS apps. UX, UI & problem solving is central to everything I do. Synthesising the needs and goals of users, product managers, marketing, developers and testers to ensure the best possible experience.
Part time emoji connoisseur. 🤔 🍻 ✈️ 🌴
Want the long version? 👇
Sydney born & bred. I got my start in design as 💩 kicker, printer, binder, customer service lackey… and designer at Snap Printing. Although painful at times (damn paper cuts), this role taught me so much about design and getting to the heart of customer/user wants and needs.
From there doing advertisements, cover layouts and all kinds of marketing collateral for UBD & Gregory’s street directories (RIP 💀).
Then over to Fairfax Media to work in the marketing team for BRW, AFR and all the business titles. At Fairfax Business Media is where I got my first taste of digital design, creating and coding flash banners, micro-sites and EDMs (the email kind not the music kind 🎧).
By this time I had a taste for digital and there was no turning back. 😍
I then moved over to Fairfax Regional Media to help overhaul the UI & UX of the 180+ regional news websites & also the bespoke CMS that powered them, and eventually the print layout of the newspapers also.
It was around this time I scratched my itch feet (figuratively) and took 2 lengthy trips ✈️🌴. One around South East Asia and the other around South America, ticking the death road, salt flats, Machu Pichu & attending a World Cup game bucket list items. ✅
I then joined Hudl, a sports technology company, helping lead the UX & UI redesign of Sportscode, enabling teams to record, break down and analysis video, with a user base of all NBA (except one), most EPL, all AFL, 16 of the 20 Rugby World Cup teams and a whole lot more.
While at Hudl I had the chance to conduct user interviews with the Wallabies, Sydney Swans, Manly Sea Eagles, a handful of US college teams and more. The user interviews were conducted throughout the design process, from extracting design flaws with the existing product, validating wireframes through to clickable prototypes in Invision and also watching them “code” games live.
From there I moved on to work on Jenkins and other projects in the Cloudbees suite, trusted by the likes of Netflix, Adobe, Microsoft & NASA to enable continuous integration and continuous delivery. During my time there I helped develop the design team, establish UX best practices & design principles and turning a developer heavy company into a design led one.
